The following information is stamped on the rear visor: R (Reserve) J R (Infantry Regiment) 94. Two more poorly legible initials at the bottom.
Incised in the leather of the rear visor the initials W B.
Marked inside the helmet the size 55.
Coming from a soldier of the Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 94. More information on this regiment can be found in the book written by Major Julius von Richter in 1934: Das Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 94 im Weltkrieg 1914/1918 / bearbeitet von Richter.
The battalion was formed on 18 September 1914 as a replacement Battalion for Landwehr Brigade no. 55 and was assigned to the Liège District Inspectorate.
